Social Investment Program

For the Burnaby Refinery, Community is a core value and giving back to the people we serve is a priority.

Every day we work to achieve our purpose: Powering what moves people.
We are pleased to support our community and programs led by our key partners. Our program focuses on: Community Building, Health and Safety, and Education.

Our Community Support

We keep Burnaby moving by supporting meaningful programs for residents like Meals on the Wheels, Christmas Bureau, Senior's outings, Study Buddy, World of Choices, life-saving training, and by providing the propane for the local mini-train attraction.
Our contributions help Burnaby Hospital and its new cancer unit, allow patients free transportation to appointments, and cover diagnosis costs for children with special needs. We are also proud to provide academic awards for high school and postgraduate students.
“Parkland has shown and proven to be a very valuable neighbour – the term “hidden heroes” comes to my mind. I know they will be there to help us if or when a need arises.” Chuck Laws, Shop Director, BC Society of Model engineers

Our Community Partners

We are honoured to be partners of the Burnaby Neighbourhood House, Burnaby Community Services, Burnaby Hospital Foundation, Burnaby Firefighters Society, Citizen Support Services-City of Burnaby, Burnaby Central Railway, Dixon Transition Society, Senior Confederation Centre, Variety, BC Cancer Foundation, Volunteer Cancer Drivers Society, Junior Achievement of BC, Big Sisters, University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, British Columbia Institute of Technology. We are happy also to support xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

Through them, we support education, health and well-being programs that are essential for the development of our society.

Parkland Volunteer team

Our volunteers embody our commitment to community and sustainability. In 2023, they raised $23,313.72 and 200 toys for the Christmas Bureau, while also donating a woodshed for the Heights Community Garden.
“It is uplifting to see a group of volunteers in action giving back to the community. You are generously providing support and help to your close neighbours. Keep up the hard work. Your community appreciates it.” Mike Hurley, Mayor of Burnaby
